April 1st, 2012, marked the beginning of the 9th year of Poetry Victims.

As many of you are aware, I initially started producing this little magazine as a daily email newsletter with the purpose of exposing my son to my love of poetry. While the initial purpose is now long gone, the love of my art and the desire to share it remains. This last year, along with the addition and extraordinary efforts of my best friend, Nicole E. Turiano, as Co-Editor, our format and issues have grown considerably. We look forward to another great year ahead. Thank you everyone for your support.

Welcome to Volume 8, Issue 5 of Poetry Victims. We want to thank everyone who took a chance and trusted us for months on end with their precious work. We are excited with the diversity of art and words in this issue.

Our featured guest in this issue is Susan Culver-Graybeal. Susan is the Founder and Editor of the online magazine Lily. I first met Susan in 2004, not long after I founded Poetry Victims. Patricia Gomes interviewed ZZ Baggins for Lily, and they also published some of my poems. I admire Susan’s talent. Her poems are poignant stories of the intricacies of life and love and pain and truth … subtle hopes.

We are also very pleased to introduce Denise Summers (of Chicago) and Kyle Sutherland (of Denver), who share the limelight with Marge Piercy, Liz Minette, Amy Kohut, Kit Muldoon, Jan Marquart, Ernest Williamson, Howie Good, Stephen Caratzas, Brian Stark, and Jaguar Duffy.

On a personal note, I want to apologize for our delay in releasing this issue, life has been a little extra spicy as of late, and we have had the most amazing formatting issues to thwart along the way. yeah!

We hope you enjoy the issue.
